Set up & use

Configuration files

Back up, transfer, and restore every global setting and bank with a portable useMidi JSON file.

Download a backup

  1. Connect the controller and wait for every bank to load.
  2. Open Overview → Configuration Files.
  3. Choose Download Configuration.

The .usemidi.json file includes the product identity, global configuration, selected bank, and every bank layer. It does not contain personal data or firmware binaries.

Load a configuration

  1. Connect the same controller model.
  2. Choose Load Configuration File.
  3. Review the values in the editor.
  4. Choose Apply Changes to test, or Save Permanently to keep them.

Loading never writes immediately. The configurator validates the product, I/O counts, payload lengths, 7-bit MIDI values, banks, and min/max ranges before showing the imported settings.

Backups made with v2.3 firmware can be loaded after a v2.4 upgrade. The configurator adds full 0–127 ranges to the older file in memory. The v2.5 beta also converts v2.4 four-interval harmony stacks to literal MIDI notes with velocity and adds two disabled voice slots. You can review every migration before writing anything to the controller.
